Transferring a License (Desktop)

What it is: The process of releasing your Draftworx Desktop license from one computer and sending a new license key to be activated on a different computer.

What it's for

A license transfer is needed when you replace your computer, transfer Draftworx to a new user on a different machine, or replace your hard drive. The process deactivates the license on the current computer and generates a new key that the recipient activates on the new one.

How to do it

Before You Start

• Copy all local client files from the Clients folder (default path: Public Documents > Data Prime > Draftworx > Clients) to a safe location so they can be placed on the new computer after activation.

Transfer the License

1. On the Client List screen, click the Draftworx Logo and go to License Information.
2. Click Transfer.
3. Click Yes to confirm the transfer.
4. Enter the email address where the new license key should be sent and click OK.
5. The new license key is shown on screen and also emailed to that address. Click OK.
6. On the new computer, use the emailed license key to activate Draftworx Desktop.

Tip: After activating on the new computer, copy the client files to the same Clients folder path so they appear on the client list.
